 Salt Lake City, UT – The YWCA Young Women’s Council will present a half-day professional development opportunity for more than 150 young women on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Falls Event Center (580 S 600 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84102).Young women ages 18-35 are welcome at the event, which features the theme ‘Conscious Confidence,’ focusing on building skills and understanding what it means to be a confident leader. The event will feature structured networking, interactive sessions, a diverse panel of experts, and a keynote address by Kristen Cox.Kristen Cox has been the executive director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Management and Budget since 2012. Prior to that Kristen worked as the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Disabilities, and held numerous positions with the National Federation of the Blind. Her awards include the Salt Lake Chamber Pathfinder Award, Utah Business Magazine’s 30 Women to Watch, and Utah Community Foundation’s Enlightened 50.Breakout sessions on collaboration and presenting yourself with confidence will be led by Rebecca Chavez-Houck, former Representative of the Utah House of Representatives, and Shalee Schmidt of the University of Utah Musical Theater program.A lunchtime panel will feature a discussion on inclusivity in the workplace.The volunteer YWCA Young Women’s Council invites all interested young women to attend this event:“The YWCA Young Women’s Leadership Summit was my introduction to the YWCA and their work for women’s empowerment. The Summit inspired me to become a YWCA member, and later I applied for and was accepted to their year-long professional development program, YWEmpowered. With the YWCA, I’ve had volunteer and networking opportunities, become paired with an incredible mentor, and participated in several leadership and personal development workshops.
