We provide confidential access to critical services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and stalking.

The mission of the Salt Lake Area Family Justice Center is to reduce domestic violence by strengthening victim safety and increasing offender accountability through community collaboration and accessible, co-located, victim-centered services.

OUR PARTNERS

The Salt Lake Area Family Justice Center partners play a crucial role in providing comprehensive, in-house services, ensuring survivors can access all the support they need under one roof without the added burden of navigating multiple service providers.

OUR SERVICES

  • Crisis Intervention

YWCA Utah Case Managers work one-on-one to help determine what services a survivor needs and develop a plan for next steps, including referrals to partners.

  • Safety Planning

Creating a safety plan reduces the risk of being harmed by identifying methods and resources to help keep everyone safe in the event of an emergency.

  • Risk of Danger Assessment

This assessment helps determine risk factors, empowering the survivor to recognize and be aware of their own risks. It can help inform the safety plan.

  • Advocacy & Case Management

Guides provide assistance, emotional support, and resources to those victimized by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and/or elder abuse.

  • Police Reports

Detectives from the Salt Lake City Police Department or other local law enforcement agency meet with survivors interested in reporting the incident.

  • Protective Orders

Guides can offer information regarding the process and connection to Legal Aid Society for further assistance filing a protective order, stalking injunction, or dating violence order.

  • Immigration Assistance

Experts from Holy Cross Ministries assist immigrant families in applying for legal residency. Survivors may qualify for a U-VISA or VAWA.

  • Job & Education Assistance

The DWS employment specialist on-site supports resume creation, interview skills buillding, job searching, and education planning.

  • Support Groups

Sexual assault support groups offer survivors a way to find support among others by sharing experiences, learning about community resources, and discovering a path forward.

  • Emergency Shelter

Keeping survivors and their children safe is a top priority. Guides will support survivors to access emergency shelter at YWCA Utah or identify other sister shelters in the Salt Lake Valley.

  • Housing Support

YWCA Utah’s housing specialist assists clients who have located sustainable housing options in the community and are in need of financial assistance, which may include deposit and rent assistance.

  • Economic Empowerment

YWCA Utah provides budgeting assistance, financial planning, credit repair, and matched savings opportunities for survivors interested in learning how to improve, or take charge, of their financial situation.

All of our services are provided with dignity, respect, and confidentiality. Translation services are available, as well as safe spaces for children to play.
